The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) and the Clean Energy Solutions Center of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) made a joint effort to promote the development of an energy audit market in the ECOWAS region. The overall objective of this collaboration was to raise awareness about the importance and economic potential of energy audits and provide technical assistance to micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) whose business model involved providing energy audit services.

Econoler was hired to first interview several MSMEs providing energy audit services in the ECOWAS region to understand the challenges they faced in selling and conducting energy audits and then provide tailored online training to strengthen their capacity. The topics covered by the online training included energy audits, soft skills and energy efficiency in buildings and the industrial sector. Econoler delivered these training sessions in English and French.
