Attijari Management Capital (AMC) created a Super ESCO based on an initial fund of EUR 25 M to provide an innovative offer for the design, implementation, and financing of sustainable energy and energy efficiency projects through energy performance contracting. The objective of the African Energy Efficiency Fund (AEEF) is to overcome the technical and financial barriers to investment in energy efficiency and decarbonization projects in Morocco. AMC has joined forces with Econoler as a strategic partner to provide all the expertise required to design the initiative and implement it over a five-year period. Among other things, Econoler is helping to build the capacity of Moroccan staff involved in designing and implementing the initiative and is also providing technical assistance for its operationalization and project implementation.

Econoler is contributing to the design and operation of the Super ESCO by carrying out the following tasks:

  • Support the fund’s financial set-up and contribute to the investor due diligence process;
  • Train and provide technical support to members of the team in place;
  • Prepare standard contractual documentation (customer contract, ESCO contract, etc.) required for project implementation in line with Moroccan standards;
  • Provide ongoing support and transfer know-how related to marketing, the establishment of contractual relations between parties, and general monitoring of activities;
  • Provide support services for the project investment phase and for preparing the technical aspects of projects to be implemented by the Super ESCO (validation of project potential, contract negotiation, selection of ESCOs, preparing measurement and verification plans, monitoring project implementation, customer invoicing, etc.).

Thanks to the services of Econoler, the AEEF will be up and running and financing sustainable energy and energy efficiency projects in line with the adopted business model.
