The objective of this project was to reinforce the skills of a team of Tunisian negotiators on Article 6 of the Paris Agreement. The intent was to enable negotiators to more fully engage in negotiations on the implementation of cooperative approaches under the Paris Agreement during 2019 and to actively present and defend the vision and interests of Tunisia on the matter. The project covered the technical aspects of Article 6 as well as other related provisions of the Paris Agreement, notably accounting for Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and the Enhanced Transparency Framework.
Econoler carried out the following tasks:
- Delivered two training sessions, one prior to the subsidiary bodies session in June 2019 and one ahead of COP-25 in November 2019;
- Prepared a guidance document explaining the key issues of Article 6 negotiations and the positioning of the Parties for COP-25;
- Supported the preparation of a submission to the UNFCCC on Article 6 by Tunisia;
- Supported the negotiators during negotiation sessions (during a meeting in Bonn and at COP-25).
