PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The project was aimed at improving skills and employment prospects, particularly for women and youth, in Jordan’s RE sector and strengthening the enabling environment to speed up this sector’s growth. The project activities included: (1) launching an awareness campaign targeting 25,000 people to raise their awareness of RE and EE solutions; (2) strengthening the capacity of women’s organizations and community-based organizations for managing RE and EE initiatives and revenue-generating activities; (3) procuring and installing 22,800 RE and energy-efficient units including PV panels, solar water heaters and energy-saving lights; (4) improving the capacities of Jordan’s Vocational Training Corporation to deliver training in RE and EE; (5) developing the national partners’ capacities to better manage and regulate the sector; and (6) establishing commercial models for the RE regulations by following international best practices. The project was implemented by Cowater in partnership with the Jordan Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Fund (JREEF) supervised by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.
