Econoler’s landmark study on Standards and Labeling for Efficient Appliances in West Africa available on CLASP website

In 2013, Econoler was mandated by the Collaborative Labeling and Appliance Standards Program (CLASP) on behalf of the Super-Efficient Equipment and Appliance Deployment (SEAD) initiative to provide programmatic and technical support to the Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) in developing a regional appliance Standards & Labeling (S&L) scheme across the ECOWAS member states.

This study – conducted by a team of Econoler consultants supported by a large group of experts from ECOWAS countries – provides an in-depth assessment of the policy, regulatory and institutional frameworks governing energy efficiency and S&L in the region through an innovative methodology for obtaining data in a short period of time from a large number of national and regional stakeholders. This comprehensive assessment also allowed for analyzing the institutional capacity of key national and regional institutions for establishing, monitoring, and ensuring compliance with a regional policy on appliance S&L.

The final report, describing Econoler’s data collection methodology, main findings and most pertinent recommendations for a successful and sustainable implementation of a regional S&L program for appliances at the ECOWAS level, is available here in English:
