Econoler Supports Implementation of Dedicated Renewable Energy Fund in Antigua and Barbuda

antigua

Econoler was contracted by the Organization of American States (OAS) and the Antigua & Barbuda Environment Division to help start up the Sustainable Island Resource Framework Fund (SIRF Fund) in order to attract investments in renewable energy, primarily solar and wind energy. The electricity generated will be sold to the Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) and the revenue reinvested into environmental management.

The initiative, which will go on until January 2016, will be very beneficial to Antigua and Barbuda, whose economic and social development is currently hampered by the high costs of imported energy resources.

Renewable resources have massive untapped potential to provide accessible, reliable and sustainable energy in the Caribbean.
