Econoler Participates in a Publication by the International Finance Corporation on EE in the Cement Sector
Econoler and the Institute for Industrial Productivity (IIP) were mandated by the International Finance Corporation to assess various existing technologies aimed at improving thermal and electric energy efficiency in the international commercial cement sector. The results then served to not only draft a specification sheet on thermal and electric energy efficiency in the Brazilian cement sector, but also prepare an IFC publication entitled Improving Thermal and Electric Energy Efficiency at Cement Plants: International Best Practices.
This mandate was carried out in the context of creating roadmaps in clean energy technology development for the International Energy Agency. Since 2002, the member companies of the Cement Sustainability Initiative (CSI) have collectively made considerable progress by measuring, reporting and reducing their CO2 emissions, as well as by sharing their progress with the industry.
The energy efficient technologies and energy efficiency measures studied by Econoler included improving the preparation processes of raw materials, fuels, kilns, heat recovery, cooling high-efficiency clinkers, grinding systems, burners, as well as optimizing these processes, etc. Econoler and IIP also provided detailed descriptions of the main innovative business models to improve the thermal and electric energy efficiency of Brazilian cement companies.
