PROJECT Description

In February 2013, the OPA entered into a master services agreement (MSA) with the consortium comprised of the Canadian Institute for Energy Training (CIET), Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology (Seneca) and the Northwest Energy Efficiency Council (NEEC) to update and deliver a building operator energy efficiency training program in Ontario.

The Building Operator Certification (BOC) training program was originally developed and created by NEEC for the U.S. market. Under this MSA, the consortium led by CIET successfully introduced BOC into the Canadian market after making the necessary adaptations and improvements to reflect the realities in Canada and Ontario.

Highlights

Between February and December 2014, CIET offered five BOC cohorts attended by a total of 72 trainees from three client organizations in Ontario.

  • Defining the learning objectives;
  • Developing tools to measure training effectiveness by conducting the “Reaction, Learning, Transfer and Impact” evaluations, and preparing and delivering a training effectiveness evaluation report;
  • Designing and developing the course
  • Identifying professionals and hosting the “train-the-trainer” sessions;
  • Handling course delivery, administration and logistics;
  • Preparing the annual reports and attending meetings;
  • Preparing a marketing plan for the BOC courses and developing a set of trainee eligibility requirements.
